Potatoes Au Gratin
Another potato recipe - I don't think there can ever be enough. :) I make these on special occasions because they do take a little longer to make. But boy are they worth it!
I made them on Easter to go with a roast and they were the perfect combination.
Ingredients:
3 medium size potatoes
3 Tbs flour
1 1/2 cup milk
1 tsp salt
2 gloves of garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
1 tsp dried onion
1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
salt and pepper
Directions:
1) Heat oven to 350. In a small sauce pan over medium heat, melt butter and blend in flour. Cook 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in the milk, minced garlic, dried onions, and season with salt and pepper
2) Cook sauce on low until smooth and boiling, stirring with a wisk. Remove from heat and stir in cheese.
3) Place half of the potatoes in a greased 8x8 pan and pour half the cheese sauce over. Then repeat with a second layer.
4) Bake with foil for 30 min, the remove foil and bake another 30 min - or until the potatoes are tender.
Enjoy!
